Scientific background

During my bachelor’s studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, I joined the research project of Ing. Radek Janča, Ph.D., as a research assistant. In my bachelor’s and master’s theses, I focused on the use of automatic image processing methods in the diagnosis of epilepsy. Since 2023 I have worked at the FEE of the Czech Technical University as a researcher in the team of Ing. Radek Janča, Ph.D. Within our research project I investigate the use of FDG-PET imaging in the diagnosis and planning of surgical treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. Since 2023 I have also continued my studies at the FEE of the Czech Technical University in a PhD programme in Bioengineering.

Research interests

I am interested in Neuroimaging methods in medicine and neuroscience. I focus mainly on functional imaging methods. I am interested in the possibilities of automatic processing of medical images and machine learning in medicine. Currently, I focus on the use of these techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. I am working on a research project devoted to the use of FDG-PET imaging method in the diagnosis and planning of surgical treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. I have been developing an algorithm for automatic detection of hypometabolic regions in FDG-PET images that can help radiologists detect brain regions suspected of generating epileptic seizures. Besides the focus on epilepsy, I am generally interested in neurological disorders and the use of Neuroimaging in their treatment. I also specialize in statistical data analysis.
