Scientific background
I am a Master’s student at the Faculty of Science, Charles University. My research at the Institute of Physiology, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, is dedicated to understanding sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). I had the privilege of joining the SUDEP Pathophysiology Group during my bachelor’s studies, with my thesis focused on respiratory dysfunction and SUDEP, and I am now advancing this work through my master’s thesis.
My work focuses on experimental physiology using animal models, specifically rats. My responsibilities include fabricating electrodes and implants, as well as actively participating in surgical procedures, both as an assistant and as a surgeon.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Faculty of Science at Charles University in 2024, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree with a specialization in Animal and Human Physiology.
Research interests
My research interests are centered on the pathophysiology of epilepsy, with a particular emphasis on understanding the mechanisms that lead to sudden unexpected death in epilepsy and the critical role that respiratory dysfunction plays in these fatal events. I am also fascinated by the advancements in experimental and surgical methodologies and their application in scientific research, as they offer valuable insights into the complex physiological processes associated with epilepsy.
